Who's at the Helm?

It couldn't be me today, because the eye ointment I'm using makes my vision too blurry. But it was me two days ago, although I'm not apparent. I could have taken a selfie, but given the beauty of the scene, I preferred a no-selfie. The boat steered herself fine in the meantime. We'd just been to Hearn Island, her and I, to take a look at the sand beach in its abandoned out-of-season aspect. The big emptiness of winter on the ocean is so appealing, I keep on going out whenever the wind is light and precipitation absent. One can always bundle up otherwise. And then, even with my hand on the tiller, I do sometimes wonder who's at the helm.
