Boundaries

Relatively, we need boundaries. We can take our example from the oceans, where natural boundaries shield harbours from the sometimes violent moods of the open water. And in our minds we need shelter from the sometimes violent moods of others. So we organize our lives, if we can, so that our environment is protected. If we can't, we may suffer from all sorts of mental discomfort. In that case, we are fortunate to find a teacher who can show us that absolutely there are no boundaries, and that if we master our own minds, peace will be ours no matter what is happening around us.
