Cold, Cold, Cold but Good

My teacher Khenpo Tsultrim Gyamtso (who just turned 87 in Kathmandu HAPPY BIRTHDAY) told me when I miss him just to look out at my beloved ocean. So it is him, as far as I'm concerned. Even when it won't grant my request for an interview. Even when the wind blows so hard and from the north that the waves turn to ice on the rocks and my little boat shivers on its ramp. Or perhaps especially then. Because having a guru is not like having a mommy or a buddy or a pet. What is it like? Like having a window on the great expanse. And then like having a direct connection to the great expanse. And then realizing you were never separate from the great expanse. And that fearlessness is yours. Even when you don't go out.
