Although You Say Goodbye

Although the rose is a tease,
Intoxication shrugs it off.
The shrivelling petals mean nothing, it says,
As do I.

Although the ocean is notorious,
Intoxication casts a blind eye.
Killer waves, it explains, are its passion for us.
And so say I.

Although this lifetime is short as a snap of the fingers,
Intoxication says the dream is real and we will never die.
Anyway, since the sorrow of parting is said to be sweeter than candy,
Why linger?

Anyway, although you say goodbye
My heart refuses to believe
In any vanishing point, no matter how well prophesied.
“Hello, my love,” I hear it cry, “My careless love.”
