A Derelict Beauty

A house on an island, a house no one has lived in for years. Yet to see it, you wonder. You wonder in ways you would not were there no house there. What are the stories? Maybe you never know the stories, or grasp their meaning if you do. Maybe the house is your own past. We don't live in our past. Or at least, we shouldn't. Because we'd be like zombies in the present. But we might do well to venerate what we have been through. Our growing process is a treasure we don't need to claim because in some way it is always with us. Move on, yes, but never run from what you were. An abandoned house on a tiny island in the ocean may be a source of beauty for someone. Maybe even yourself. You never know.
