Seaweed - High and Dry at Low Tide

Sometimes my eye is attracted simply by texture. Well, yes, and colour and light too. I was standing by my boathouse, thinking of something else, of a problem with my boat, when suddenly this bed of exposed seaweed caught my eye. I mean, it already had my eye, because I was looking at it while I was thinking. But suddenly the thought fell away and I was just looking. For a moment I was reminded of Van Gogh, because of the swirling quality of the seaweed. And then I was reminded, by myself, that it deserved being photographed, whether or not I could actually turn it into a plausible photo. So, here it is. What do you think? Should I simply have let it lie, or is it worth the time you yourself have already spent looking at it?
