A Place to Rest Your Eyes
She had not come but said she would be coming. So you were waiting. You could have walked home. It wasn't far. But in your mind was only waiting. So you got down as close to the cove as the bank of wild roses allowed, and you let your eyes rest on the scene just beyond. And there was a boat resting easy on its tether. And beyond, a red door bringing life. And that was all you needed. You rested, and what you rested your eyes on was resting, and when she finally came and said have you been waiting long you could not tell.
