Moment of a Rapid in the Cossatot for web DSC_3103
Dream River
I set out and went a ways.
The days turned into quite a while.
One calendar got tossed.
I crossed a continent and back.
Siblings and offspring invited me in
and then the torrent separated us.
The journey, was it seven thousand miles
or just some rapids in a river like the Cossatot?
An old man fell in love again.
He had a face somewhat like mine
if you discount the ravages of time.
And now he's coming home.
A neighbour means to light a fire
to get the place warmed up
so north won't seem so cold.
Will his southern girl follow? She says so. She insists.
I know someone who won't resist.
He has a face somewhat like mine
(if you discount the ravages of time)
and all the luck in this imaginary world.
