A Moveable Shrine

Usually when I meditate on the waves, it's a relatively calm day, when the motion from the ocean is minimal and the sound of the surf a mere whisper. Yesterday was different. A brisk sou'wester was muscling me around all over the place. Finally I tied up to a neighbour's mooring. Then, with no need to steer, it was possible to relax into the tumult and realize that, in terms of the mind anyway, the same clarity, relaxation and spaciousness were there. If only one meditates a little every day, even five minutes, the habit will spread through your daily routine until eventually, with no effort expended, the state of mind experienced during meditation is with you all the time and doesn't require a "peaceful" place. But don't take my word for it. Try it yourself. You may keep all the benefit. I promise I won't horn in. 🙏🥸🙏
