A Pointing Out
"You've come a long way and from different parts of the world. And here you are. And there's the glacier. Why is it blue down below? Well, because blue is the color of pure glacier ice, compact with few air bubbles, since the air is squeezed out from the weight of the ice. Pure ice has the properties of minerals. Like sapphires, glacial ice reflects the blue colors of the light spectrum, so beautiful blue color reaches our eyes. Why is the ice so dirty on top? Well, you might call it dirt, but in reality it's volcanic dust. So, altogether, you have an Icelandic glacier.
"Now, because this is the special meditation tour, let me point out further that the glacier is like our minds. Our big mind, our original mind, is beyond thought, beyond concept, completely pure. It is beautiful and, whenever we make the connection, completely restful. That is its deep colour. This mind is never dirty. Only dusted. Volcanic ash may seem to have a duration. Our thoughts may seem to have a duration. Consider that.
"We know the glaciers are melting. Is our original mind melting? No, only my metaphor. Consider that.
"Now, who brought the bjórlíki?"
