Across a Minor Divide
Along the granite coast the soil is thin
and the wind ... will the wind ever end
or will the trees let go their shallow hold
and leave the islands colorless and bald?
Sometimes I wonder if the turmoil in our world
will leave the Earth another bald rock hurled
through space, with all distinction lost
and no one left to chronicle the cost
of the armies of ego run wild
while love bled and died.
