Winter State of Mind w sig-bord for web DSC_1095
Single Tree
I seem to have no
brothers, sisters, cousins, mum or dad
and this is so
as far as I can see
and doesn't make me sad.
It's just the way things be.
One moment I was at the breast and then
another found me at my prime and then
I woke up on this granite island
where never a word is said
about the benefits of company
because there is none
none at all, unless
clouds like whatever, like horses neighing
rocks like rooks of the ever-careless gods
and the ocean's sweet caress
which sometimes is frenzied, yes,
can be considered company.
Sure and who believes a tree
has any memory or anything to say?
No one would. And even I on days I call my best
am not inclined to trust myself.
Was ever any past but this?
I don't know. I don't know.
If only I'd a button I could still undo.
