Peace of Mind
We feel peace of mind when we look at a peaceful picture. Why? Because our mind recognizes the peace that is its own inherent nature. Not because there is some inherent peace in the picture, or in the situation. You might have such a seemingly peaceful situation for a while. But then the weather will change, or your finances will change, or your health will change. Something will change. If your peace of mind depends on the situation, it cannot last. But if you realize peace is the nature of your mind, then the mesmeric movie of changing situations is like a dream that you know you are in, that cannot affect you. If you wish to strive for something, strive for this peace of mind without reference point. It's a very good deal, because you don't have to strive very hard, since it is already yours. Now go out on your boat, in your sleepy sweet harbour in the rising sun, and enjoy yourself, all in your mind.
