Daybreak and the Boat DSC_4016
Daybreak and the Boat
In darkness tempered only by stars
he awakes and wonders
did I make her fast?
She who carries me out where the air is clear
did I take care
and will she be there in the morning?
In a sweat his forgetfulness fuels
he raises his gaze through the window to Orion
and bares his throat to the sword
and sleeps again. How go on
without trust you can still
remember what to do, what must be done?
Then daybreak and the boat remind him
he is blessed, still blessed.
A golden hull is in its place, still in its place, for now.
