Reflections and Shadows

Reflections and shadows
how they draw the eye

and how they draw the mind.
With our eyes we see the beauty they create

but in our minds often panic and sidestep
fearing serpents lurking or deception nigh.

It all comes from the same clear light, though.
Isn't it funny how we choose to be afraid?

Isn't it also so sad?
That sometimes we feel so enlightened, and

sometimes so
irretrievably mad.
