Looking Backward Going Forward

My oldest son, Redford, is now entering middle age. He has long hair and a long beard and is himself an accomplished photographer. Here he's a child, napping after playing hard, in what is left of a small boat we had hauled up from the bottom of Lake Travis in Austin, Texas, where I used to live. The original photo was in black and white and from a film camera. Here I've restored and colorized it with Luminar photo processing software. I love him all the time, of course, but somehow when I look at this photo I get a little extra hit, a little gift my youthful past sends to my aged present, and a little sigh, a little "ah", results, and an old wreck sails forward anyway, with a fair wind and a following sea.
