Thoughts on Seeing an X-Ray
Teeth in their entirety
can we love them as much?
The white smiles of public figures
would we be as seduced?
Every gift gets unwrapped
and all the wrapping thrown away
Then we are said to be dead
and the gift waved goodbye
"Your teeth are quite worn. Do you
eat many almonds? Was your childhood
dentist drunk when he did that?
Well, that explains it all!"
In a dream, we had teeth. In a dream
it was such a big deal, that dream
that seemed so real, that now
we can't quite recall.
