Daydream of a Day in a Dream
I didn't go where I thought. I thought I would head down Prospect Bay where the waters were calmest. Then I got to where you would bear north and instead I kept going east. Then I thought I would tour Rogue's Roost, but when I got to the entrance, I veered south. Then I thought I would go around Betty's Island and the rest but instead stayed inside Betty's and Hopson's and only went around Bald Rock. Finally I headed for East Dover, when I had told myself in the beginning I wouldn't venture that far through open sea. So there was a time of roly poly and the battery going down and wondering would I be able to get to a quiet sheltered place with a landing in time to change to my second battery. So you might say there was a time of anxiety. Now don't chastise me, I had my oars. It would have been a long and tiresome row, but hey. Anyway, like the bunny I kept going and going for what seemed like an exaggeration of forever, until suddenly (what does that word mean anyway) I was in the quietest of coves, in the most rustic and beautiful and placid of surroundings, and changing the battery was a cinch even without beaching the boat. I just drifted and didn't go anywhere. So, I didn't go where I thought, but I went where I went. Before I knew it I was back home again and in the kitchen making okra stew, recalling the day as one recalls a dream, or a dream within a dream. Luckily the stew turned out well. Send your drone and I'll share.
