Below the Light
Seeing the possibility of an unusual angle, I lay down on the ice on the rocks below the lighthouse at Peggy's Cove, and aimed the lens upward. From the corner of my eye, I noticed a bemused looking man, red-bearded, in blue pajama bottoms and a pink sweatshirt, holding a liter bottle half full of a greenish liquid, staring in my direction. As I walked away I looked back and saw him kneeling where I had been. He looked up where I had looked, then into the crevice between the two rocks, then back toward me. He then repeated the process, struggled to his feet, scratched his head as if that of all things might prove enlightening, took a long greenish drink and shambled away shaking his head and mumbling to himself. I didn't have the heart to tell him yes indeed I did see God. 🤠🙏🥂
