Mountain Bones - Utah for web DSC_2796
Mountain Bones
There is an admonition in Buddhism to 'sit like a mountain' when practicing meditation. In other words, not to let your stray thoughts move you. So a mountain is construed to be something unmoving and firm. But in fact even mountains are subject to impermanence, and in Utah they like to mumble like old folks missing their teeth. "I remember pointy peaks," one says. And another replies, "Pointy what?" So I prefer to sit like outer space, which is really no different from inner space, and can't be moved or worn out, and is therefore more reliable. Ha!
I'm not in Utah now, but had this shot left over from the trip, and it was bugging me to be shown.
