Turquoise Time - The Sad Tale of Clarence and Abigail

Neither Abigail Gull nor Clarence Cormorant had any idea it was turquoise time. All they knew was that the fog rolling in from the sea had once again swallowed the sun. What time it was for them was something like our evening time. They were tired. They were not looking for turquoise. They did keep one eye out for fish, but even that eye had a dullness about it, an occluded glassiness a window cleaner would have done something about. Their chat had dropped off and they were lulled by the boom of the waves on the granite. Had they been alert they might have noticed the turquoise and broken the chain. But they missed it. They had missed it as humans too. Next they would miss it as a mackerel and a sea louse. Turquoise time would elude them. And yet it was happening everywhere all the time. If only they had known.
