The Two Beaches of Hearn Island
There are two notable beaches on the island of Hearn near Prospect. The one facing away from the sea is all sand and is a rarity along the Granite Coast. This is where everyone pitches their tents in the summer. Facing the sea is this beach here, which is all rock and supports the Coast in living up to its name. It's a beautiful island. Unfortunately, people leave a lot of trash on the sand beach, and trash washes up on the rock beach. I make it a habit to take home what I can in the dory, but that isn't much. So if you read this and can visit Hearn, take a big boat and a lot of bags and help clean up. And if you're one of those trashing the place, please, have a heart. Leave it like it was to begin with, so everyone can enjoy nature at its unsullied best.
