Behind the Waterfall

We all start in front
and many are satisfied with that point of view
but always there are some
who want to know what it is like
to be behind

and they go there
and they get wet and something more
and they look out through fall and spray
to see the ones who did not dare or care

and all the world beyond
where what it's like to be behind the waterfall
will never make the news

but they have made the news their own
however small

and in their dreams sometimes
they find themselves again
behind the shimmering veil.
