A Genuine Path

A genuine path is not a super highway. You can't herd people to an enlightened destination. You can only look at your own mind. This is where the real answers lie, but to get them, things may be unearthed you hadn't counted on. You didn't realize what you had done to so and so. You didn't realize how you felt toward so and so. You didn't realize that you were not yet free from anger and desire and deception. You want to be free, but the pain of unearthing these unknowns is sharp, is powerful, can seem overwhelming. You may feel like letting them be. But then you don't advance. Advancing may involve tripping and falling and then getting back up and then tripping and falling again. Wrongly seen, these are obstacles. Rightly seen, they are the genuine path. They are the road signs. This is the right path. Yes, you are getting there. So rejoice instead of giving in to the feeling that you'd rather die than continue. You could just do that. It is entirely possible. And we are each of us entirely capable.
