Once There Was A Window
Once there was a window
then the window disappeared.
Some say it never was.
Some say it only ever was
the idea of a window
there to make us yearn
for what could never be.
There was a woman said it was
and she had seen the other side
but then she disappeared and
we are told that anyway she lied
just so her followers would bring her
food from time to time.
We hear she weighed
a lot more than her bones.
We hear that's how she died.
She had the strength to move
and so she went outside
where one should never go.
But there are those of us who know
who are her followers and miss her so
because she told the truth.
There was a window once.
We know it in our hearts. We know
because she told us that
is where the window starts.
We each of us looked through
that window of the heart
and we will never forget
or ever be fooled ever again
though we keep quiet
because someone must remain alive
to pass the secret on.
