Where Flying Things Belong
These Canadian geese landed in the harbour yesterday morning for a rest. I was out for an early row and recorded the event. This morning, with processing the photo in mind, I came downstairs to find a sparrow on the window sill. I've never seen one perch there before, so I came a little closer. At that the little bird flew up and straight at me so I had to duck. It wasn't on the outside of the house, it was on the inside! So I opened a door and tried to shoo it out. That worked many years ago when I was trying to get a red tail hawk out of my parents' house in California, but it didn't work here. The sparrow was scared and just kept taking another route past me to another part of the house. Finally I managed to throw a sheet over it and gather it up loosely and release it on the back porch. So, a morning of bird business, and there you have it.
