Worker in the Water

Neighbour Dave is the latest in line of caretakers of this fishing stage, which first was built out over the water more than a hundred years ago. The stage is no longer for fishing. The wealthy German who bought it also owns Redmond Island just outside the harbour. Dave manages the German's mansion on the island and this stage, which is supposedly for storage (though I have never seen anything stored there). He works hard and often in aquatic conditions as you can see. But as he says, it's a dream job. The German and his family only come once every few years. So mostly Dave decides what to do and when to do it and is his own overseer. I like it that he takes good care of the stage, because it protects my house from hurricane-driven storm surges, which happen every few years. He's friendly and helpful and altogether a good guy. Spotlight on Neighbour Dave!
