An Exodus of Cormorants

Cormorants have a low threshold of tolerance when it comes to the proximity of humans. This was in Prospect's back bay and I had taken several shots of them perched and was slowly drifting closer to the rock. However, when you realize I was using a long telephoto lens, you see I wasn't that close. In fact, though I left it out of the picture, there was a lone seagull on the rock that didn't budge. This is cormorant behaviour I've noticed often. I want to compare it to panicky humans, but I don't seem to have the reach this morning. Anyone care to finish my thought?
