Bright Rain Through a Salt-Stained Window

By the sea the glass gets etched with salt. I started to say dirty but it’s not. It’s just what happens. Still the light comes through. Even sometimes a glorious light, like when it’s raining yet the sun is shining strong. So it is for us all. No matter what obstructs our view, the light still comes. Even sometimes a glorious light. Moments like that give us a glimpse of our true nature. And we can coax those moments into something more continuous by resting in a meditation where nothing is done but observe. In fact we come to see no obstruction at all. Whatever appears is crystal clear, no matter how it appears. Our hearts surge forward like a wave, maybe breaking, maybe sweeping all before, like a clear wave, an ocean wave, a wave of tenderness for all that is.
