Raft-Up on the LaHave

We see them as abandoned derelicts
as eyesores and a danger to the river
(which they are). Meanwhile

back and forth, from boat to boat
the ghosts all raise their glasses to each other
happy for such a beautiful resting place

and the chance to visit and tell jokes and stories
of the voyages they thought would never end
and their lives that did, goldang!
