Hauling Traps DSC_8130
Hauling Traps
On the Chignecto Mariner (captain Burt Mitchell), the business of hauling traps is underway. It's winter on the north Atlantic, cold but on this day of a wind reasonable enough to allow the boats out. Of course there are days when the boats go unreasonably out. In the background is Betty's Island and another Cape Islander after their own catch. I remember the January day Captain Burt helped tow Joe Duggan's sunken Severence into the cove where she could be pumped out and re-floated. Now Joe and Severence are both gone, while the Mariner is still out there. For the moment, I am still photographing her and enjoying the moment. All the best to all us dream people. Sláinte!
