The Hair That Lifts to Heaven

In the meditation posture, you sit upright as if a single unbreakable hair were attached to the crown of your head and being gently tugged upward from its other end in the space of heaven. With this posture all by itself, even before you begin the meditation proper, you have the dignity of a king or queen. You may be old, broken down, poor and uncared for, but you can ride at your mooring in this life with an elegance that is unassailable, with a mind that cannot be daunted. Why? Because your confidence has no reference point. Your pride of being just is. There is nothing that can be taken away to reduce you. Who is this "you" who can do this? Anyone. Because the basic or original nature of everyone is complete with all qualities in the very first moment, before a finger is lifted or a thought arises. Take a deep breath. Let it go and relax. You are uplifted by the ocean itself.
