When the Sun Sets on a Boat
It was never really there - the boat. A bunch of material was fastened together and painted and then it was called a boat and given a name. But if you took it apart again, there would be no boat there again. So there's really nowhere in a boat you can find the boat. Nevertheless, all logic aside, some people come to love their boats so much they not only believe in them as boats but give them loving names too. So when the sun sets on a boat, when it's time for the boat to dissolve back into nothingness, there can be a real sadness. Imagined, perhaps, but no less penetrating for all that. This is the sort of beings we are. Our whole world is imagined this way. Sad but true...and very genuine.
