Meeting in the Fog DSC_0011
The Idea and Then
The idea was to take a leisurely sunny cruise on the open water and then duck into Cub Basin and anchor and have a holiday feast. Then while heading toward Betty Island to check out the fog that seemed to be lapping at the island's seaward side, that very fog ceased to lap and suddenly was off to the races, heading our way. I kept Promenade ahead all the way to the head of Prospect Bay, by which point the fog had stopped behind us. However, time was passing and we still had to get back to the village. So, reversing course, it was back through the fog, keeping shore just in sight to starboard, inching along, till finally we passed the harbour buoy and were within safe confines. At which point we enjoyed the very brief company of two kayakers. It may not have been a glorious Canada Day, but it did somehow signify the Canadian experience, taking what you are given and making the best of it. And after all was said and done, a jolly good time was had indeed, said the captain, who by the by was me.
