As I Wandered Along

The loudest that ever I heard
As I wandered along in a hurry
Was the flapping of clothes on a line

The sea ever restless
Was a soft distant second
A lullaby if anything

But the clothes gave me pause
As I hurried toward nowhere
And they celebrated covering nothing
