Black Beach

Iceland left me with more images than I could process. I'm still finding ones I like. This one is of a black sand beach on the southern coast. Its colour is due to the sand being worn-down lava. A very slow shutter speed created the softened waves. Although we were always in a rush, at the moment of taking such a picture, I always felt I had stepped through a door into timelessness.
