When Home Is Vanishing
This is Prospect from the channel marker one mile out. This is how it looks, the village where I live, as one heads out to sea. This time I returned. But there will come a day, before too long, when every last thing recognizable will shrink until it's gone, that day irreversible when one heads out to sea and home has no existence anymore. And then one either will be terrified or fearless in the space that is the space of natural mind itself. Then the land and then one's body will be gone. And all the reference points that one holds dear. Will we get ready for that day or put it off in hopes that it will never come? Will we be smart or dumb, dumb, dumb?
