The Big Okayness

These words were a humorous but telling label for beginningless and endless space, which in spite of our local difficulties is a "big okayness". And since we ourselves are part and parcel of that space, we ourselves could rest easy in that big okayness. Okay? I heard this over the weekend from the delightful Dharma teacher Anam Thubten, to whom my apologies if I have badly paraphrased his words. My hearing is not keen, his voice was soft and his accent Tibetan. Nevertheless I think I have touched at least bumblingly what he intended to convey. So here is a little picture of a bit of that Big Okayness: sea, seaweed, granite, brush, trees, clouds: pristine and beautiful. As are we all at heart, beyond our seemingly hopeless tangle of habitual patterns.
