The Stillness That Prevails

That isn't the snow-capped Himalayas but only the Granite Coast in winter, and I'm not a reclusive meditator in a cave. But I am out there, and meditation can be done. What I do is maneuver the dinghy onto some seaweed there in the outer harbour so wind and current don't transport us. Some movement has to be allowed, because it is the floating world. The small waves are dancing and the seaweed flowing back and forth. Yet somehow a sense of stillness prevails. The air is so fresh you feel twice as alive, yet content to sit and be with your mind, letting thoughts come and go as they will, letting the whole thing settle and clarity have a chance to prevail.
